Sports Shops In Bugis | 15 Best Stores for Shoes & Sportswear
For years, my most important pair of shoes was the one I wore to walk Milo.
Every morning and every evening, rain or shine, we walked. And every few months, those shoes would give up before he did. Holes in the soles. Laces that would not stay tied. So I spent a lot of time in Bugis, trying on trainers, bouncing on the shop floor and asking the staff far too many questions.
These days I walk without him, but I still walk. And Bugis is still where I go when I need new shoes, a running top, or just a little motivation to move.
The right shoes will not make you an athlete. But they will make you want to go outside, and that is where it all begins.
Between Bugis Junction and Bugis+, you can find almost every major sports brand within a five-minute walk of Bugis MRT. Here are my 15 favourite sports shops in Bugis, what each one is best for, and a few tips to help you buy the right pair. Every store on this list was checked as open in October 2026.

My Bugis Sports Shopping Route
Want to see everything in one go? Here is how I would do it.
- Start at Bugis Junction, Level 1: NIKE By Bugis, ASICS, Salomon, Under Armour and FILA FUSION.
- Go up to Level 2: adidas, New Balance, Skechers, Converse, Kappa and SneakSurf.
- Cross the link bridge to Bugis+, Level 2: adidas Originals, Li-Ning, PUMA and JD Sports.
- Take a break: grab a drink at one of my favourite cafés in Bugis before deciding what to buy.
Trying on shoes is surprisingly tiring. Do not be afraid to take a break and come back.
My Tips for Buying the Right Sports Shoes
- Shop in the afternoon or evening: your feet swell a little during the day, so shoes that fit in the evening will be comfortable on long runs and walks.
- Bring your own socks: wear the socks you will actually exercise in.
- Leave a thumb’s width at the toe: your feet need a little space, especially on longer runs.
- Tell the staff how you will use them: running, walking, gym or court sports all need different shoes.
- Walk and bounce in the store: do not just sit down. Walk around, jog on the spot, and see how they feel.
- Think about Singapore’s weather: breathable, quick-drying fabrics are your best friend in the heat and humidity.
- Replace them on time: running shoes wear out over time. If your knees or feet start to ache, it may be time for a new pair.
Sports Shopping for Kids in Bugis
Children grow out of shoes so fast that it can feel like a full-time job keeping up. Luckily, a few stores in Bugis make family shoe shopping easy.
- Skechers: shoes for kids as well as adults, with a strong focus on comfort. Great for school and play.
- ASICS: sports shoes and apparel for children, as well as men and women. A good choice for kids who are serious about sport.
- JD Sports: handy for comparing popular brands that older kids and teens love.
My tips for kids’ shoes: shop with your child so they can try shoes on. Leave a little room for growing, but not so much that their foot slides around. And check the fit again every few months, because little feet change quickly.
Where to Break In Your New Shoes Near Bugis
New shoes are an invitation to go outside. Here are a few of my favourite places to move, all within easy reach of Bugis.
- Marina Bay waterfront: walk from Bugis towards the Esplanade and around the bay. It is flat, scenic and beautiful at sunset, and perfect for a first walk or easy jog in new shoes.
- Fort Canning Park: a short trip from Bugis, with shady paths, gentle slopes and lots of stairs if you want a workout.
- Around Bugis itself: an early morning walk through Kampong Glam, along Beach Road and past the quiet shophouses is one of my favourite ways to start the day, before the crowds arrive.
My tip: wear new running shoes on a few short walks or easy runs before any long run or race. Your feet will thank you.
How to Save Money on Sports Gear in Bugis
- CapitaStar rewards: Bugis Junction and Bugis+ are both CapitaLand malls, so you can earn and spend CapitaStar STAR$ at many stores. Check the app for mall-wide deals.
- Brand memberships: brands like PUMA, adidas and Nike have free memberships with points, birthday perks or members-only sales.
- Mall events: stores like JD Sports run occasional events with freebies, so follow Bugis Junction and Bugis+ news.

My Final Note
I still have the shoes I wore on my last walk with Milo. They are worn out and a little muddy, and I cannot bring myself to throw them away. Every scuff mark is a walk we took together.
That is the thing about sports shoes. They are not just shoes. They carry you through early mornings, long runs, hard workouts and quiet evening walks. They are part of your story.
So take your time choosing them. Try them on, walk around, ask the questions. And then go out and use them, whether that is a marathon, a gym session, or simply a slow walk around Bugis at sunset.
That is what Bugis is all about for me. Good food, good company, and no rush.
