12 Best Fast Food Spots In Bugis | McDonald’s & KFC

Fast Food in Bugis

I am not ashamed to say it. Sometimes, I just want McDonald’s fries.

Hot, salty, a little too crispy at the edges. Eaten straight out of the paper bag while walking home through Bugis after a long day. No cutlery, no fuss, no regrets.

Fast food gets a bad name, but it holds a special place in so many of our memories. Fries with school friends after exams. KFC buckets at family gatherings. A late-night McSpicy after a movie. Bugis has been part of those memories for decades. Many of us grew up with the old KFC at Bugis Village, which closed in 2021 after nearly 30 years, and people still talk about the dates they had there.

Fast food is not fine dining. But sometimes a warm burger and a friend across the table is exactly what the heart needs.

Today, Bugis has more fast food choices than ever, from the familiar McDonald’s and KFC to Asia’s first Chick-fil-A, a new Popeyes, and the Sidemen’s fried chicken. Here are my 12 favourite fast food spots in Bugis, with locations, hours, halal status and a few late-night tips. Every outlet on this list was checked as open in October 2026.

McDonald’s in Bugis

1. McDonald’s, Bugis Junction

McDonald's Bugis Junction

This is the McDonald’s most people mean when they say “McDonald’s Bugis”. It sits on the ground floor of Bugis Junction, just a short walk from the MRT, and it serves all the classics, from the Big Mac and Filet-O-Fish to Singapore’s beloved McSpicy and McNuggets with Curry Sauce, plus McCafé drinks and desserts. It is halal-certified.

This outlet even hosted Singapore’s first-ever McSpicy Museum in May 2025, a pop-up celebrating the history of the McSpicy, complete with free burgers and stickers. I went, and yes, I queued for the free McSpicy. No shame.

  • Must-try: McSpicy, McNuggets with Curry Sauce, McCafé drinks
  • Hours: around 11am to 10pm (per the mall directory)
  • Halal: yes, halal-certified
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #01-66
  • Phone: +65 6339 3690

2. McDonald’s, Bugis Village

McDonald's Bugis Village

Just across from Bugis Street on Rochor Road, the Bugis Village McDonald’s is the one I head to when everywhere else has closed. It has long been one of McDonald’s 24-hour outlets, so it is a lifesaver for late-night study sessions, post-karaoke hunger and early-morning breakfasts.

Some of my favourite memories are from this outlet: 2am fries with friends after a night out, laughing far too loudly in a near-empty restaurant.

  • Must-try: late-night fries and a McFlurry, or breakfast in the early morning
  • Hours: it has operated 24 hours. Check the McDonald’s app for current hours.
  • Address: 151 & 152 Rochor Road (Bugis Village)
  • Phone: +65 6338 2986

Bonus: there is another McDonald’s at Parklane Shopping Mall (35 Selegie Road, #B1-38), about a 10-minute walk away, and one at Suntec City.

Fried Chicken in Bugis

3. KFC, Bugis Junction

KFC Bugis Junction

Now that the old Bugis Village KFC is gone, the KFC in the basement of Bugis Junction is where you go for Original Recipe and Hot & Crispy chicken. It is halal-certified, and a reliable choice for a quick, filling meal.

Whenever I eat KFC, I order the same thing I did as a teenager: two pieces of Hot & Crispy, a whipped potato and a Pepsi. Some things never change, and some things should not.

  • Must-try: Original Recipe, Hot & Crispy, whipped potato
  • Hours: 10am to 10pm
  • Halal: yes, halal-certified
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #B1-09
  • Phone: +65 6334 5543

4. Jollibee, Bugis Village

Jollibee Bugis Village

Jollibee, the Philippines’ favourite fast food chain, has an outlet at Bugis Village on Rochor Road. It is famous for Chickenjoy (crispy, juicy fried chicken with gravy), Jolly Spaghetti with its sweet, sausage-studded sauce, and the Yumburger.

Jollibee always feels happy to me. Maybe it is the cheerful bee mascot, or maybe it is just the gravy.

  • Must-try: Chickenjoy with rice and gravy, Jolly Spaghetti, peach mango pie
  • Address: 165/166 Rochor Road (Bugis Village)

For the full menu and prices, read my Jollibee Bugis guide.

5. Popeyes, Bugis Junction

Popeyes Bugis Junction

Popeyes, the Louisiana-style fried chicken chain, is one of the newest fast food arrivals in Bugis, on the ground floor of Bugis Junction. Its chicken is known for a crunchy, flaky coating and bold Cajun spices, and the biscuits are a must.

I tried it for the first time on a rainy weekday, and the crunch of that first bite was so loud the person next to me looked up. The spice builds slowly, so order a cold drink. You will need it.

  • Must-try: spicy fried chicken, chicken sandwich, buttery biscuits
  • Halal: yes (per the mall directory)
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #01-88/89

6. Chick-fil-A, Bugis+

Chick-fil-A Bugis+

Asia’s very first Chick-fil-A opened at Bugis+ in December 2025, and it was one of the biggest food openings of the year. The star is the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, a crispy, juicy fillet in a buttered bun with pickles. Pair it with the famous waffle potato fries and the signature sauces, including a Singapore-exclusive Spicy Chili Sauce.

  • Must-try: Original Chicken Sandwich, Waffle Potato Fries, nuggets
  • Price: chicken sandwich around $6.80, waffle fries around $4.20
  • Hours: Monday to Saturday, 10am to 10pm. Closed on Sundays.
  • Address: Bugis+, 201 Victoria Street, #01-19

My tip: it is closed on Sundays, a Chick-fil-A tradition. Plan accordingly.

7. SIDES by The Sidemen, Bugis+

SIDES by The Sidemen Bugis+

SIDES is the fried chicken chain from the famous British YouTube group, the Sidemen, and its Singapore outlet is at Bugis+. Crispy chicken tenders, burgers, and a wall of nine sauces, including Nashville Cheese and XIX Buffalo.

My niece is a huge Sidemen fan, so this was the first place she wanted to go when she visited me. I expected a gimmick. I left a fan of the Nashville tenders, and of the sauce wall, which turns every meal into a tasting game.

  • Must-try: Nashville Tenders, Classic Burger, a mix of sauces
  • Price: Classic Burger around $12.50, Nashville Tenders around $9.90
  • Halal: yes, halal-certified
  • Hours: daily, around 11am to 9pm
  • Address: Bugis+, 201 Victoria Street, #03-25/26

8. JINJJA!! Chicken Diner, Bugis+

JINJJA Chicken Diner Bugis+

For Korean fried chicken, head to JINJJA!! Chicken Diner on the ground floor of Bugis+. Crispy, saucy chicken in Korean-style flavours, perfect for sharing with friends.

Korean fried chicken is my favourite thing to share on a Friday night. Order a mix of flavours, add some fries, and fight over the last wing. That is the rule.

  • Must-try: Korean fried chicken in sweet-spicy and soy-garlic styles
  • Halal: check in store
  • Address: Bugis+, 201 Victoria Street, #01-11

9. Nando’s, Bugis Junction

Nando's Bugis Junction

Nando’s sits somewhere between fast food and casual dining. Its flame-grilled peri-peri chicken comes in heat levels from mild to extra hot, with sides like spicy rice and peri-peri chips. It is halal and a great choice for groups who want something a little more filling than burgers.

I love Nando’s for birthdays with friends who all have different spice tolerances. One person orders mild, another orders extra hot and cries a little, and everybody shares the chips.

  • Must-try: quarter or half chicken in your favourite heat level, peri-peri chips, spicy rice
  • Halal: yes (per the mall directory)
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #01-85/87

10. Subway, Bugis Junction

Subway Bugis Junction

When I want fast food but also want to feel slightly virtuous, I go to Subway. Build your own sandwich or salad with fresh vegetables, choose your bread and sauce, and you are done in minutes.

It is my go-to lunch when I am rushing between errands in Bugis. A footlong with lots of vegetables, a bottle of water, and I am back on my feet in ten minutes.

  • Must-try: build your own sub or salad
  • Halal: yes (per the mall directory)
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #B1-25A

11. Yoshinoya, Bugis Junction

Yoshinoya Bugis Junction

Yoshinoya is Japan’s famous beef bowl chain, serving gyudon (thin slices of beef simmered in a sweet soy sauce over rice). It is quick, cheap and comforting, and perfect for a solo lunch.

There is something peaceful about a beef bowl at a counter on your own. No conversation needed, just warm rice, savoury beef and a moment to breathe in the middle of a busy day.

  • Must-try: beef bowl, with an onsen egg on top
  • Halal: not halal
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #B1-10

12. Old Chang Kee, Bugis Junction

Old Chang Kee Bugis Junction

Not quite a fast food restaurant, but Singapore’s favourite snack shop deserves a place on this list. Curry puffs, sotong balls, chicken wings and fish balls on sticks, all perfect for snacking while you shop.

An Old Chang Kee curry puff in a paper bag is one of my most Singaporean comforts. I always buy one “for later” and eat it before I reach the escalator.

  • Must-try: the classic curry’O puff
  • Halal: yes (per the mall directory)
  • Address: Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #B1-13

Also nearby: for pizza, try rumeL (sourdough pizzas from $6.80) or Pizza Maru at Bugis+. For more Western options, see my guide to Western food in Bugis.

Halal Fast Food in Bugis

Good news for Muslim diners: most fast food chains in Bugis are halal-certified. Here is a quick summary from the mall directories:

Halal-CertifiedNot Halal or Check In Store
McDonald’s Bugis Junction, KFC, Popeyes, SIDES, Nando’s, Subway, Old Chang KeeYoshinoya (not halal). Chick-fil-A, Jollibee and JINJJA!! Chicken Diner: check in store.

Halal certificates are renewed every year, so it is always worth checking the certificate at the counter if it matters to you.

Late-Night Fast Food in Bugis

Bugis Junction and Bugis+ mostly close by about 10pm. After that, your options get smaller:

  • McDonald’s Bugis Village: it has long been a 24-hour outlet. Check the McDonald’s app before a late visit.
  • McDelivery: if you would rather stay home, McDonald’s delivers late at night in many areas.
  • Other late-night eats: for supper beyond fast food, Swee Choon dim sum on Jalan Besar is open until 2am (4am on Fridays and Saturdays). See my dim sum in Bugis guide.

Visiting From Overseas? Try These Singapore Favourites

Fast food in Singapore has its own local twists. If you are visiting, here is what I would tell you to try in Bugis:

  • McDonald’s McSpicy: a spicy fried chicken thigh burger that Singaporeans are fiercely loyal to. It even had its own museum pop-up at Bugis Junction.
  • McNuggets with Curry Sauce: the curry dip is a Singapore classic. Ask for extra.
  • KFC Hot & Crispy: spicier and crunchier than the Original Recipe, and a local favourite.
  • Chick-fil-A Spicy Chili Sauce: a sauce created only for Singapore. Try it with the waffle fries.
  • Old Chang Kee curry puff: a flaky pastry filled with curried potato, chicken and egg. It is not fast food from America, but it is Singapore’s own grab-and-go classic.

Fast food is also a lovely, low-cost way to experience a bit of everyday Singapore. Sit by the window at Bugis Junction, watch the crowds go by, and enjoy your fries.

Healthier Fast Food Choices in Bugis

I love fast food, but I also try to be kind to my body. If you are watching what you eat, these small swaps help.

  • Choose grilled over fried: Nando’s flame-grilled chicken is a lighter choice than deep-fried chicken.
  • Load up on vegetables: at Subway, ask for extra salad and choose a lighter sauce.
  • Swap your sides: many chains offer corn, salads or fruit instead of fries. Try it now and then.
  • Drink water: skip the soft drink and you cut a surprising amount of sugar.
  • Share: split a big meal or a bucket with a friend, instead of having one each.
  • Look for healthier choice labels: several outlets in Bugis Junction offer healthier food and drink options, which are marked on menus.

Fast Food in Bugis With Kids

  • McDonald’s: Happy Meals are always a hit, and the Bugis Junction outlet is easy to reach with a pram from the MRT.
  • KFC and Jollibee: fried chicken, mashed potatoes and spaghetti make easy, kid-friendly meals.
  • Chick-fil-A: the nuggets and waffle fries are perfect little-hand food.
  • Avoid peak times: school holiday afternoons and weekend lunches can be very crowded. Go early or late for an easier meal.

Fast Food on a Budget in Bugis

Students and young workers, this one is for you.

  • Check the apps: McDonald’s and KFC regularly release app-only coupons and value meals.
  • Go for value menus: most chains have cheaper value meals and snack-sized options.
  • Try a beef bowl: Yoshinoya is one of the cheapest filling meals in Bugis Junction.
  • Snack instead of a full meal: an Old Chang Kee curry puff or a six-inch rumeL pizza can be enough for a light lunch.
  • Share big sets: sharing buckets and platters usually work out cheaper per person.

My Tips for Fast Food in Bugis

  • Use the apps: McDonald’s, KFC and others often have app-only deals and coupons. Check before you order.
  • Avoid the lunch rush: fast food outlets at Bugis Junction get very busy from 12pm to 2pm on weekdays, and after school ends.
  • Order ahead: many chains let you order and pay on the app, then collect, which skips the queue.
  • Earn CapitaStar rewards: several outlets at Bugis Junction and Bugis+ let you earn STAR$ on your purchase.
  • Remember Sunday closures: Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays.
  • Eat smart: balance your meal with water and a side salad or corn instead of fries every now and then. Your future self will thank you.

A Little Fast Food History in Bugis

Bugis has seen many fast food favourites come and go. The KFC at Bugis Village, which opened in the early 1990s, closed for good in September 2021, and Singaporeans shared memories online of teenage dates and post-school meals there. Long John Silver’s at Bugis Village has also closed.

But new names keep arriving. In 2025, SIDES brought the Sidemen’s fried chicken to Bugis+, and in December 2025, Bugis+ welcomed Asia’s first Chick-fil-A. More recently, Popeyes opened at Bugis Junction. Bugis has always been a place where things change, and where there is always somewhere new to eat.

My Final Note

I still eat fries straight out of the bag on my walk home sometimes. I still order the same KFC meal I did at sixteen. And I still think of the old Bugis Village KFC every time I walk past where it used to be.

Fast food is not about fancy flavours. It is about comfort, nostalgia and the simple joy of a warm meal in your hands. Bugis has been serving those little moments for decades, and it still does, one burger at a time.
